To start with, you will have over 2000 cloth samples to choose from. We will advise you on the style that we feel will flatter your body shape. The cutter will then take 21 direct measurements that we use to draft your individual paper pattern. Each suit is then trimmed, i.e. Linings, interlinings, buttons and buttonhole silks. We use the finest interlinings. To build the foundations of your jacket, wool and mohair canvasses, horsehair chest pieces and genuine horn buttons.
The suit is then ready to go to our highly skilled tailors (some of whom have been working for Davies & Son for over 25 years). It is basted together for the first fitting where it will be tried on by the cutter who measured and cut your pattern. After fitting, your pattern is corrected and your suit is re-cut to take into account all the adjustments we have made. It then goes back to our workshops to be finished at which time you will be advised to come in again to have that final fitting where any slight adjustments (if any) will be corrected. For the first suit, we may ask you to come for several fittings until we feel confident that we have the perfect pattern. You suit is now ready to be worn and enjoyed for many years to come.
